McKnight Doctoral Fellowship
Description
The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship (MDF) from the Florida Education Fund (FEF) supports new Ph.D. students with the aim of broadening backgrounds among faculty in the state of Florida.
The FEF awards up to 50 of these fellowships each year for pursuit of a Ph.D. degree at the University of Florida and eight other Florida universities.
Details
This fellowship includes…
- A stipend of $28,000 a year for three years ($13,000 from FEF, $15,000 from UF degree program)
- Up to $5,000 tuition a year for three years
- A fee waiver
- Health insurance
- Plus two more years of equal support from UF degree program
...for up to five years total for a Ph.D. student.
McKnight candidates who apply to UF are also eligible for a graduate admission application fee waiver. To get that fee waiver, contact the UF Office of Admissions via this link: Contact UF Admissions.
This fellowship starts in the fall semester of your first year in your UF Ph.D. degree program.
Renewal of this fellowship each year hinges on satisfactory academic performance and normal progress toward graduation with a Ph.D. degree.
Eligibility & Requirements
- You must be a United States citizen.
- You must have at least a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- You must be starting a Ph.D. degree program — already enrolled Ph.D. students are not eligible.
Deadlines & Critical Dates
- You must submit your application and support materials directly to FEF by January 15 of the year you apply.
- This deadline is strictly enforced.
