Holbrook (pictured left) — former Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Florida (1993-1998) — this endowment funds conference and workshop attendance for UF Ph.D. students in the health sciences with two $2,000 awards each year.

  • This award provides $2,000 yearly to help UF Ph.D. students in the health sciences to attend conferences and workshops.
  • The endowment grants two awards yearly.
  • Candidates can come from any UF Ph.D. program in its Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine.
  • Applicants apply to their college among those five, and each of those five colleges forwards their best applicant to the Graduate School for final selection.
Eligibility & Requirements
  • You must be a UF Ph.D. student in the College of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, or Veterinary Medicine.
Deadlines & Critical Dates
  • Applicants must submit their applications to their colleges by Thursday, November 30, 2023.
  • Each college must choose one application and submit it to the Graduate School by 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
  • The Graduate School will notify the chosen awardees by the end of January 2024.
  • The awardees must use the funds by Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
