Summer of Change

Posted: May 23, 2024

Dear Students, Faculty, Administrators, and Staff,

I hope this message finds that you’re settling into Summer Semester 2024 cozily and hassle-free, fellow Grad Gators!

As we shift from spring to summer at the University of Florida, seasons aren’t the only thing changing. We’ve had quite a few here at the Graduate School lately — all aimed at bettering workflow and turnaround time through realignment of our workforce, to serve you more efficiently and effectively.

Academic Affairs Changes

Within our Academic Affairs unit, Student Records has become two distinct teams:

  • Graduate Academic Career Tracking, which monitors graduate student progress and certifies graduation. To learn more, click here.
  • Graduate Admissions and Transfer Credit, which handles requests for conditional or special exception admission and transfers of credit. To learn more, click here.

Data Management has become our Graduate IT Systems team, managing our database operations and their synergy with larger systems campuswide. To learn more, click here.

And new within our Academics Affairs unit is our Curriculum and Programs team, which will coordinate curricular changes, Graduate Council and Graduate Curriculum Committee proposals, and the Graduate Catalog. To learn more, click here.

Goodbye, Editorial…
Hello, Thesis, Dissertation, and Publication!

Moving from our Academic Affairs unit into our Graduate Student Success Center (GSSC) is our Thesis, Dissertation, and Publication team (formerly the Editorial Office) — an apropos fit, given GSSC’s mission to enhance and expand the graduate student experience at UF. To learn more, click here.

Website Changes

Naturally, these organizational changes required changes on our website, so please use these links as leads to update any broken links on your websites:

May: Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month — a year-round priority for us at the Graduate School when it comes to our graduate student body. Please don’t forget all the UF services on hand just waiting to help you maintain balance, bolster stamina, and resolve problems while you pursue your personal best in and out of the classroom or lab:

Remember: Self-care is not selfish! Stay healthy and be good to yourself all the time. For more resources, click here: UF Grad Self-Care & Wellness.

And Finally…

Never forget that you’re always welcome here at the Graduate School:

Onward and upward, Grad Gators! I hope Summer 2024 brings you your share of progress, success, and fulfillment — along with at least a little rest and relaxation, too!

Go Gators!
