April is National Volunteer Month in the United States — thirty days that encourage giving back and making a difference by volunteering your time, talent, and treasure in a spirit of selfless service for others.
And that spirit is very much alive and active in the Gator Nation through a number of volunteering initiatives supported by the University of Florida.
Gators Volunteer serves as a digital hub that connects UF students, faculty, and staff with opportunities and resources to volunteer both on and off campus to meet crucial needs in our own backyard. Interested? Email gators-volunteer@ufl.edu.
The UF David and Wanda Brown for Leadership and Service (BCLS) provides UF students with pathways to community service, leadership building, and civic engagement for positive impact on our shared world. Want to get involved? Email bcls@ufsa.ufl.edu.
The Alan and Cathy Hitchcock Field and Fork Pantry on the UF campus hosts individual volunteers to further its mission — relieving foot insecurity in the UF campus community through distribution of nonperishable groceries and fresh produce. Keen on helping? Email fieldandfork@ufl.edu.
Each fall, the yearly UF Campaign for Charities (UFCC) drive draws together members of the Gator Nation and their combined monetary clout to fund social service agencies and charities that advance health, education, culture, community life, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship in Gainesville and North Central Florida. Questions? Email ufcc@ufl.edu.
Volunteering betters lives and betters the world. How can you, as a Grad Gator — student, faculty, or staff — contribute to that noble and ennobling cause?
