“You gotta nourish to flourish!” Self-care and well-being are key to your graduate student success. University of Florida resources nurture your stamina, balance, and momentum to keep you fit in body, mind, and spirit — so you can achieve your personal best.
On the physical health front, the Student Health Care Center — in its brand-new, state-of-the-art, 46,000 square-foot home on campus — offers primary and specialized medical and pharmacy services. UF Health’s Shands Hospital, located on the edge of campus, provides first-rate hospital care.
For mental health, UF’s Counseling and Wellness Center hosts round-the-clock crisis response, individual or group counseling, and wellness workshops. GatorWell Health Promotion Services offers healthy lifestyle coaching. AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) Services supports students in recovery and pursuing sobriety. U Matter, We Care connects students with supportive networks tailored to individual needs.
When it comes to spirituality, UF’s also got you covered. UF Faith Groups spans a bevy of religious traditions affiliated with UF where you can find direction and connection through faith and fellowship. In addition, its Campus Multi-Faith Cooperative works jointly for spiritual well-being and mutual understanding among students.
To keep your body fed and fit, UF has the Hitchcock Field and Fork Campus Food Pantry (free groceries and farm produce to counteract food insecurity), UF RecSports (fitness exercise, amateur sports, and outdoor activities), and UF RecSports Nutrition Services (individual guidance on healthy eating habits from licensed dietitians).
Last but not least, safety: the UF Police Department not only patrols campus, but also offers crime prevention and self-defense classes. UF’s SNAP (Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol) Ride Service provides safe after-hours transport on campus. Of course, in cases of emergency, call 911 for help.
