Postdoc Extensions
A petition and approval are required to extend a postdoc appointment beyond four years.

To extend a postdoc associate appointment beyond four years, a petition approved by the Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School is required.
You must submit that petition no later than six months before the end date of your original appointment.
The petition must include:
- Your career plan or Individual Development Plan (IDP).
- Copies of your annual evaluations.
- Your reason for requesting the extension (need for additional skills or project completion).
- Your exit plan (leaving UF, assistance provided to search for a new position, and the like).
