The McNair Doctoral Program at the University of Florida aims to enroll and support selected graduate students who participated in McNair undergraduate research programs across the United States.
Contingent on available funding, the Graduate School will cover a $13,000 stipend, tuition, and fees for the first two years of graduate study. McNair Scholars also may be eligible for a graduate assistantship from their degree program’s home unit while receiving the McNair Doctoral Program award.

Dr. Ronald McNair (1950-1986)
Dr. Ronald McNair earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976, became a NASA astronaut in 1978, and perished aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger during its tragic 1986 mission. The McNair Doctoral Program honors his memory by empowering and encouraging others to reach for the stars just as he did.
