Dr. Edward Alexander Bouchet (1852-1918) made history as a pioneering figure when he earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physics from Yale University in 1876.
Named in his honor, the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society seeks to perpetuate his legacy of scholarship, leadership, character, and advocacy in higher education by recognizing doctoral students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, alumni, and others who embody those values.

Membership into the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society is by nomination only.
- All candidates must show exceptional achievement in humanities, social sciences, or sciences.
- All candidates must show an outstanding record of scholarship, leadership, character, service, and advocacy.
- Doctoral candidates must be in good academic standing.
